Description Highlights

Bought in 2011, so has some wear and some small repairs. The good news is we took it out last week in Poole Harbour and it zips along, we did about 8-10 knots on 3/4 sail. The sail is only partly out in the photo, it was a bit windy to unfurl it all on land.

Specifications

It will need to be collected from a boatyard on Poole Harbour - we live about 7 miles away. NO ROAD TRAILER so bring your own or be prepared to load the center hull (about 55 Kg and 5.6 metres long).
Included are 2 Mirage drives and homemade launching wheels. These can be stowed on the stern of the boat after launch.
The amas (outriggers) detach in a couple of minutes, as do the folding arms, so it can be used as a double pedal canoe.
I have made a repair to one ama, in the hole where the arm fits. I have also put double bungee cord on both ama fixing points. No leaks detected last time out.
The folding arms have a fair bit of play in them, it doesn't slow the boat down but it may need attention to the swivel pins sometime. The hull ships about 3 litres of water over a few hours, I think it's the wash over the bow getting in the forward hatch. There are drain plugs on the hull and both amas for convenience. There are small cracks at the stress point where the trolley wheels bear, it needs to be on the wheels for as little time as possible. We always store it on several tyres.

The sail is fine and still bright, just a little staining on some of the mast fastenings. The mast is carbon fibre so theoretically, unbreakable! The sail rolls around the mast so you can adjust for any wind conditions, NO BOOM, so no danger of a cracked skull for the passenger when gybing! It can be sailed from either seat as the controls are doubled up (except for the centerboard, easier to lower/raise from the front). And the Mirage drives are a great help when starting off - and getting out of trouble!
I have just renewed the rudder cord, it could do with checking as it's a bit fiddly running it inside the hull (any strong synthetic cord will do). Otherwise, ready for the water!
A fantastic little trimaran, child's play to sail and the quality you would expect from Hobie. REALLY hard to find used, a new one is about £8500, so talk to me! Cash on collection please.
Please telephone between 10AM/1:30 PM or after 5 PM. You can inspect most days, by arrangement.
